Recently someone asked me, “Why do you volunteer?” Without hesitation the answer was simple: “To make a difference.”
For me I think that a huge part of what makes SPPS so special is the community in which we have formed. Over the years, I have built friendships and relationships with families and staff that I truly cherish. I want to make a difference in my children’s lives; I want to teach them that volunteering and giving back is rewarding and appreciated. Deepening friendships, meeting new people, maintaining significant ties to the school, and being involved in my children’s education gives me a sense of pride and mission for SPPS.
I am proud to be part of an amazing community. I am proud of the relationships and friendships I have formed over the years and I am proud to call SPPS my family. So next time someone asks me why I volunteer, the answer will still be the same. I am making a difference in my community and in the eyes of my children.
