ANNUAL VISITATION SUNDAY MASS WITH THE BISHOP:  You are cordially invited to attend Calvary Cemetery’s Mass with The Most Reverend John Stowe, OFM Conv., Bishop of Lexington, at the Via Dolorosa Mausoleum, 874 West Main Street, on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at 3:00 P.M.  Calvary is the cemetery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington. This date is also National Catholic Cemetery Sunday. This Mass & Spiritual Work of Mercy commemorates all of our loved ones who have died, whether this past year, or longer ago, and they do not have to be buried at Calvary.  This wonderful, peace-filled Liturgy conveniently falls during November 1st through the 8th to help meet the Plenary Indulgence dates.  All are welcome!

 

PLENARY INDULGENCE: November 1st-8th…One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy is to pray for the living and the dead and one of the Corporal Works of Mercy is to bury the dead.  We have a special encouragement in November to pray for All Souls.  If one participates in Sacramental Confession, Communion, Prays for the Intentions of the Holy Father (all to be carried out within days of each other or at the same time), and visits a cemetery and fervently prays for the deceased, a Plenary Indulgence is bestowed (other days of the year, the Indulgence is Partial).

 

CHRISTMAS WREATHS:  Calvary Cemetery is again partnering with the LCHS Band’s Annual Fundraiser!  Contact Calvary at 859-252-5415 to order your Christmas Wreaths and we will set them at your loved ones’ graves on December 1st.  Orders will be accepted between now and November 17th.  Calvary is the Cemetery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington, KY, at 874 West Main Street.  Thank you for helping to beautify the Cemetery during this festive season of love and hope and for supporting the LCHS Band!

 

WREATH STANDS:  The Holidays are approaching and many of you want to place wreaths at your loved-ones’ graves. Wreaths, artificial flowers, or other semi-permanent décor are permitted from November 1st to March 1st at Calvary Cemetery.  Calvary is the cemetery of the Diocese of Lexington located at874 West Main Street. Please see Cemetery staff for a complimentary wreath stand.

 

PRAYER SERVICE & BURIAL OF MISCARRIED BABIES:  You are welcome to attend this Spiritual and Corporal Work of Mercy on November 2, 2017 at1:00 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery’s Via Dolorosa Mausoleum. Calvary is the Cemetery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington, located at 874 West Main StreetAll are welcome.

 

THE WAY OF THE CROSS FOR THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY:  You are invited to attend this Spiritual Work of Mercy on the following Fridays: November 3rd, 10th, and 17th at 3:00 P.M. at Calvary Cemetery’s Via Dolorosa Mausoleum. Calvary is the Cemetery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington, located at 874 West Main Street The Stations of the Cross are displayed in the cupola of the Mausoleum and prayer booklets are provided for use during the prayer gatherings. All are welcome!

 

 

VETERANS’ DAY:  Saturday, November 11, 2017…During the month of November, in honor of our Veterans, Calvary Cemetery will have U.S. Flags available in the office if you would like to place one on the gravesite of a Veteran buried at Calvary.  The American Heritage Girls KY Troop 0413 will also place U.S. Flags at the graves of U.S. Veterans on Saturday, November 4th in anticipation of the Holiday.  Calvary is the Cemetery of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington, located at 874 West Main Street.

 

ST. GERTRUDE THE GREAT…pray for us!  November 16th is the Feast Day of St. Gertrude the Great, champion of the Souls in Purgatory.  The prayer of St. Gertrude:  “Eternal Father, I offer thee the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.  Amen.”
